The 2nd ASEAN Rice Trade Summit 2026 was held on the morning of 4 April 2026 at the Lotte Hotel Yangon.

The event was attended by the Chief Minister of the Yangon Region Government, U Soe Thein, along with regional ministers; the Director General from the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration under the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations; the Director General of MyanTrade under the Ministry of Commerce; the Chairman, Vice Chairmen, and Management Committee members of the Myanmar Rice Federation; representatives from the Cambodia Rice Federation, Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Thai Rice Exporters Association, and Vietnam Food Association; as well as the Founder, Co-Founder, and representatives from SS Rice News, private sector organizations, and invited guests.

At the opening ceremony, welcome remarks were delivered by senior officials from the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations and MyanTrade. Distinguished speakers, including representatives from regional rice organizations and industry stakeholders, shared insights on key challenges, market conditions, and future directions of the rice sector at both domestic and international levels.

In the afternoon, the Regional Rice Dialogue session was held with participation from delegates of Cambodia, Lao PDR, Thailand, and Vietnam, alongside officials from the Myanmar Rice Federation. Discussions focused on farmers’ challenges, productivity enhancement, rising fertilizer costs, fuel constraints, and strategies to expand trade and investment. Participants also explored collaborative initiatives in seed research and development, as well as cooperation in logistics, ports, and storage infrastructure across the region.
