The Rice Export Zone (REZ) Project, a public–private partnership jointly implemented by the Department of Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation and the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF), has officially commenced the disbursement of cultivation loans for participating farmers under the 2026–2027 Monsoon Paddy Season.
For the current monsoon season, the REZ Project targets a total cultivation area of 350,000 acres across Nay Pyi Taw Council Territory, Ayeyarwady Region, Bago Region, and Yangon Region. The initiative aims to strengthen Myanmar’s export-oriented rice production by promoting sustainable cultivation practices and enhancing cooperation between farmers and the private sector.
Under the project, participating rice exporting companies are working closely with regional, district, and township Rice Export Zone Supervisory Committees to distribute initial cultivation loans directly to farmers enrolled in the REZ program.
On 5 July 2026, Good Brothers’ Co., Ltd. held a ceremony at its GBS Agricultural Service Center in Kyaunggon Township, Ayeyarwady Region, to provide cultivation loans and agricultural inputs to participating farmers. The ceremony was attended by H.E. U Aye Kyaw, Chief Minister of the Ayeyarwady Region, regional ministers, the Speaker of the Ayeyarwady Region Hluttaw, and the Chairman of the Myanmar Rice Federation, who witnessed and encouraged the implementation of the project.
Eligible farmers participating in the Rice Export Zone Project will receive cultivation financing totaling MMK 750,000 per acre, comprising:
- MMK 300,000 per acre from the Myanmar Agricultural Development Bank (MADB);
- MMK 200,000 per acre from participating rice exporting companies; and
- MMK 250,000 per acre from the National Economic Promotion Fund.
As of today, 61 participating companies have been coordinating loan disbursement for farmers across 55 townships, covering approximately 313,937 acres of monsoon paddy cultivation.
The Myanmar Rice Federation continues to invite interested farmers and companies to participate in the Rice Export Zone Project. To be eligible, participating cultivation areas should comprise a minimum contiguous area of 300 acres. Interested stakeholders are encouraged to contact the Myanmar Rice Federation for further information and coordination.
