A ceremony marking the commencement of Rice Export Zone implementation in Yangon Region, along with the provision of cultivation funds, fertilizers, and seeders to participating farmers, was held on 30 January 2026 at the MAPCO Rice Mill in Hmawbi Township.

The event also commemorated the establishment of MAPCO-MFI (500-ton capacity) and the utilization of Solar Energy (1,000 KW) at the modern rice mill facility.

The ceremony was attended by the Chief Minister of the Yangon Region Government, U Soe Thein, regional government ministers, the Chairman of the Myanmar Rice Federation, regional heads and officials from the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Agricultural Mechanization, responsible officials from MAPCO, and participating farmers.

During the ceremony, it was announced that MAPCO Company has initiated the Rice Export Zone project covering 4,106 acres in Yangon Region. Participating farmers will receive MMK 450,000 per acre in cultivation support. Accordingly, a total of MMK 821,200,000 in advance funding was provided to 212 farmers. In addition, seeders were distributed free of charge to support the implementation of Rice Export Zones across Yangon Region.
